Welcome! I'm Kai.
/ˈkaɪ/ • they/themI’m a Product Designer with an education in Design Engineering and a passion for art.
I currently work at planet, enhancing experiences for both artists and fans within the live music space. I have experience designing for B2C and B2B, and I work cross-functionally as a bridge between our commercial, product, and engineering teams.
Thanks to my multi-disciplinary background, I have accumulated a broad range of interests. These include web development, illustration, psychology, and language learning.
About this website
This is my very own corner of the internet, created with the aim to share projects, ideas, and thoughts.
But there's a bit more to it...
Lately, my hobbies have been all about achievement. Data has taken over my life. Video game completion, Goodreads stats... Instead of stressing over how many books I read in a year, I'd like to focus on what I'm taking away from each of them. I hope that by documenting some of my passions here, I'll be able to enjoy them more mindfully. And who knows? Maybe my ramblings will inspire you to try something new.
Learning in public (sort of)
I think of all the content on this website as a constant “work in progress”. It takes some of the pressure off my perfectionist brain. I update posts with new knowledge and understanding, so this space grows with me. As a result, you might rarely come across content that seems incomplete. It's not really learning in public, but it's close enough.
This is also an opportunity to improve my web development skills. I owned a few Blogger sites when I was young(...er), and learned the basics of HTML and CSS through them. But what you're looking at is my first attempt at building a site from scratch. By the way, it would have taken much longer without my wonderful partner Michalis' support and unending patience. Thank you, Michalis!
Colophon
This site is made with Astro and hosted on Netlify. The content is generated from Markdown files that I edit directly on VS Code, with MDX sprinkled in for extra functionality.
In terms of typography, I chose Poppins for headings and Noto Sans for body text, both available for free on Google Fonts. All icons are from Tabler Icons, which is one of the most complete free icon libraries out there. I use it for absolutely everything!
Unless otherwise specified, all artwork is made by me and may not be used in any commercial or non-commercial projects. Yes, that includes AI training!
